'Jasprit Bumrah either breaks my bat or breaks my foot': Suryakumar Yadav delivers sensational statement after MI's win over RCB
The match-winner right-arm pacer Jasprit Bumrah finished with outstanding figures of 5/21 in four overs in an innings in which RCB scored 196 runs.
Mumbai Indians (MI) premier paceman Jasprit Bumrah delivered a stupendous spell with the ball against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match on April 11 (Thursday). The match-winner right-arm pacer finished with outstanding figures of 5/21 in four overs in an innings in which RCB scored 196 runs. The seeds sowed by Bumrah yielded a terrific outcome as Mumbai thrashed Bengaluru by seven wickets and chased down the target in just 15.3 overs.
Suryakumar Yadav lauds Jasprit Bumrah
In a unique appreciation for Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav revealed that he hasn't faced his teammates in the nets in order to keep his bat and foot safe.
"It's been almost 2-3 years since I batted against him (Bumrah) in the nets, because he either breaks my bat or breaks my foot," Suryakumar told the broadcasters after the game, as quoted by Cricbuzz.
Bumrah wins Man of the Match award
It was a fantastic game for Bumrah, who became only the fourth bowler ever to bag two five-wicket hauls in the cash-rich tournament history. After his breathtaking spell with the ball, the right-arm pacer secured the Purple Cap as he now leads all bowlers in the wickets column this season. Bumrah has picked 10 wickets in five matches at an economy rate of 5.95.
Bumrah revealed his mantra to succeed in the shortest format of the game and spoke about the time he devotes to training to ensure he can execute his gameplan in the match.
"In this format, it's anyway very harsh on the bowlers so you need to have different skills. Can't be a one-trick pony. Everyone is doing research and data. Have trained to have different skills," Bumrah told the broadcasters after winning the Man of the Match award, as quoted by Cricbuzz.
"Bowling is tough because you will have to take a beating, you will have to have bad days to learn from it. Whenever I've had bad days, I've watched videos the next day to see what didn't work, why it didn't work. You bowl to batters in the nets who hit big sixes, find out how you react to pressure. And when you're in the middle facing same pressure, you'll have answers.
"I do my research and see where the batter is strong. You don't need to use all tricks on one day. There's no ego in this format. Even if you can bowl 145kph, if the wicket demands slower balls then you'll have to bowl slower balls," he added.
Meanwhile, it was Mumbai's second win of the season and the franchise took their tally to two wins and three losses after five matches.
