Star Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah once again led the Indian bowling charge. He got the breakthrough for India in the first over itself and later also finished as his team's highest wicket-taker in the first innings of the first Test against Bangladesh at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. After the match, Bumrah was asked about kids trying to copy his unorthodox action and to a surprise, the pacer said that he would actually not suggest the kids or the upcoming generation to imitate his style, which is known to be injury prone.

Ever since Bumrah made his international debut, there have been worries over his actions. After suffering an injury in 2022, the fast bowler needed over a year to make a comeback to competitive cricket. Since then, the fast bowler has excelled in all forms of the game. On Friday, September 20, Bumrah took four wickets and was India's main bowler against Bangladeshi batting lineup. The pacer was told that he is an inspiration to the younger generation after the day's play. In response, Bumrah expressed his happiness to make a difference wherever he could.

"I don't know how to react to that. But you know, when I was a kid, I used to. I was a fan of fast bowling. I learned through watching the television. I fell in love with the sport by that. Now, sometimes when I see children trying to copy my action, I don't recommend it. But you know, sometimes it is what it is. You get inspired by something and you try and find your own way. I'm very happy to create an impact whenever I can," Jasprit Bumrah told the broadcaster.

"I try to give my absolute best. Other than that, whatever is the narrative. I don't control the narrative. I don't go too high with the praises. I don't go too low, you know when challenges come my way. So I try to focus on what I can do, and I try to give my absolute best. I wanted to play for India, and he's (Parthiv Patel) seen my journey and you know how hard we work as a group. So playing for India. No complaints. And I want to give my best for as long as I can," he added.

On the second day of the Chennai Test match, India once again dominated the Bangladesh team. Bumrah got four wickets whereelse, Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, and Ravindra Jadeja settled with two wickets each. They bowled out the opponent side on just 149 runs. When Bangladesh's bowlers took three early wickets in the second innings of the match—Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Virat Kohli—India had already taken a commanding lead. After the day's play, India had a 308-run lead.
