Team India premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah will not feature in the upcoming fourth Test against England, scheduled to be hosted in Ranchi from February 23 (Friday). According to a report in Cricbuzz, Bumrah won't fly to Ranchi along with the other Indian players as he has been given a rest on the grounds of workload management. The decision comes after India defeated England by a historic margin of 434 runs in the 3rd Test match in Rajkot on February 18 and took a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

Jasprit Bumrah's sensational performance

Jasprit Bumrah has been a revelation for captain Rohit Sharma in the ongoing series against the Three Lions. Bumrah delivered one of the best spells ever in Test cricket during the second innings of the second Test in Visakhapatnam when he finished with six wickets. It was his tremendous display with the ball that orchestrated India's series-leveling win.

Throughout the last three matches, Bumrah has proven to be a big challenge for the English batters. Be it hitting impeccable line and length with the new ball or utilising the reverse swing to dismantle opposition batters, Bumrah's execution has been remarkable.

Bumrah leads the way in the wickets column

When it comes to the leading wicket-takers in the series so far, Jasprit Bumrah leads the way. The right-arm Indian pacer has bagged 17 wickets in three matches at an exemplary strike rate of 28.53. Bumrah has taken five more wickets than Ravindra Jadeja, who is India's second-leading wicket-taker in the series.

Onus on other Indian bowlers to step up in Bumrah's absence

In the absence of Bumrah, the workload on the shoulders of senior bowlers like Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja is bound to increase. In the pace department, Mohammed Siraj will have to lead the way along with whoever replaces Bumrah in India's playing XI for the upcoming Test.
