The venue for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024's second half has been a topic of speculation, with some reports suggesting a move to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to General Elections in India. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially shut down those rumors. BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed to Cricbuzz on March 16 that the entire IPL will be held within India.

"No, it won't be moved overseas," Shah stated, dispelling any lingering doubts on IPL 2024's second leg's venue.

 

Earlier reports suggested some IPL teams had requested a relocation due to the general elections. Additionally, there were claims of BCCI members exploring the UAE as a potential venue for the second half of the tournament. Shah's clear statement puts these speculations to rest.

With the Election Commission of India announcing polling dates spanning from April 19 to June 4 across seven phases, the BCCI is expected to release the full IPL schedule soon. Currently, only the first 21 games, scheduled from March 22 to April 7, have been confirmed.

A Look at the IPL 2024's current schedule:

 

This first leg of the IPL will kick off with a bang on March 22, featuring the defending champions Chennai Super Kings taking on the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Bengaluru. The first 21 matches will conclude with a clash between the Lucknow Super Giants and the Gujarat Titans.

 

The initial schedule includes four double-headers, concentrated within the opening weekend. Interestingly, teams like Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Titans, and Delhi Capitals will play five matches in this period, whereas Kolkata Knight Riders will play three and the remaining franchises will see four games each. Fans can expect a packed schedule filled with exciting matchups in the coming weeks.
