Jonny Bairstow reveals the top 3 T20 batters in the world currently; picks one Indian batter in explosive list
Punjab Kings' batter Jonny Bairstow has revealed his top three T20 batters after being dropped from PBKS' playing XI against Mumbai Indians.
England and Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter, Jonny Bairstow has been struggling for runs for a long time. His ongoing stint with PBKS hasn’t gone as planned. Bairstow was dropped from their line-up against Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on April 18. He was replaced by Rilee Rossouw in the playing XI. However, PBKS lost to MI by nine runs at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Cricket Stadium in Punjab.
In a recent conversation with ESPNCricinfo, Jonny Bairstow opened up about the top three batters he has faced.
"Suryakumar Yadav, Jos Buttler and Heinrich Klaasen," Bairstow said.
The wicket-keeper batter was also asked to name the best bowler he has faced.
“Dale Steyn or Jasprit Bumrah,” he replied in a video posted by ESPNCricinfo
Bairstow performance in IPL 2024 so far
Bairstow has failed to showcase his top form in the IPL 2024 as he scored just 96 runs in six matches at an average of 16.00 and a strike rate of 131.51.
Suryakumar Yadav's performance in IPL 2024 so far
During the match against PBKS, Suryakumar Yadav was the highest run scorer for MI with 78 runs off 53 balls. After batting first, MI posted a total of 192/7 and PBKS fell short of the target and were bowled out for 183 runs. Talking about Suryakumar's IPL performance, he has scored 130 runs in four matches at an average of 32.50 and a strike rate of 171.05.
Jos Buttler’s Performance in IPL 2024 so far
Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter Jos Buttler played a knock to remember for the ages, scoring 107 runs off 60 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). 107 is his highest score in IPL 2024 so far. However, Buttler has scored 250 runs in six matches at an average of 62.50 and a strike rate of 147.93.
Heinrich Klaasen’s performance in IPL 2024 so far
Heinrich Klaasen's best score of the season thus far is 80. He played a pivotal role in Sunrisers Hyderabad scripting the highest-ever total in IPL against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He has hammered 253 in six matches at an average of 63.25 and a strike rate of 199.21.
Currently, PBKS stand in ninth place with two wins and five losses. Now, they will next face Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans (GT) at Mullanpur Stadium on April 21.
