Karachi-born UAE batter Usman Khan once again wreaked havoc in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 to bring up his second century of the season. Usman scored the third century of his PSL career, equalling former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal’s record for most centuries in the league’s history.

Usman scored his first century in the previous season for Multan Sultans against Quetta Gladiators. In the ongoing season, he scored 106 against Karachi Kings on March 3. His 50-ball 100 to equal the record came against Islamabad United on March 10.

On the other hand, former Peshawar Zalmi batter Kamran's first century came in PSL 2017 against Karachi Kings. In the next season, he scored a century against Lahore Qalandars. His third century came against Quetta Gladiators in PSL 2020.

Another Usman special

On March 10, Usman got the perfect platform to showcase his attacking abilities as opener Yasir Khan got Multan Sultans off to a blazing start with his 16-ball 33. In the fifth over, Usman came in to bat. In the next over, skipper Mohammad Rizwan was dismissed lbw by Faheem Ashraf

Usman and Johnson Charles tried to rebuild the innings in the middle overs. Charles took the attack to the opposition and Usman joined him in the 12th over with two fours and a six against Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan. Ashraf returned to get the breakthrough. Charles departed for an 18-ball 42. In the same over, Usman reached his half-century from 31 balls.

Usman broke free after Charles' wicket. In the 16th over, he hit Shadab for three fours and a six. In the 18th over, Naseem Shah dismissed Iftikhar Ahmed but it did not slow him down. In the penultimate over, he attacked Tymal Mills as he conceded 16 runs from it after Chris Jordan was dropped. In the final over, Usman reached his century from 50 balls with a single. Multan Sultans posted a massive total of 228/4, their highest of the season.

Usman earns praise from Jordan

English all-rounder Jordan lauded Usman as he said during the innings break: “Usman is the man right now. He's a fantastic player. We've played in different franchises around the world, so I know about him.”
