The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on February 29 (Thursday) announced that star batter KL Rahul miss the upcoming 5th Test match against England, scheduled to begin on March 7 in Dharamsala. Rahul, who was ruled out after India's first Test against England with a quadriceps injury, is currently being closely monitored by the BCCI's medical team while the right-handed batter is also in consultation with specialists in London.
"Mr. KL Rahul, whose participation in the final IDFC First Bank Test was subject to fitness, has been ruled out of the fifth and final Test in Dharamsala. The BCCI Medical Team is closely monitoring him and coordinating with specialists in London for further management of his issue," BCCI said in a release.
Jasprit Bumrah to rejoin Indian squad in Dharamsala
The Indian cricket board also announced that right-arm premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah will rejoin the squad for the 5th Test in Dharamsala. Bumrah was released from the Indian squad for the 4th Test on the grounds of workload management.
"Mr. Jasprit Bumrah who was released from the squad for the 4th Test in Ranchi, will link-up with the squad in Dharamsala for the 5th Test," the release added.
Washington Sundar released from India squad
All-rounder Washington Sundar has been released from the Indian squad and the youngster will rejoin his Tamil Nadu team for the Ranji Trophy final.
"Mr. Washington Sundar has been released from the squad. He will join Tamil Nadu – his Ranji Trophy side – for their Ranji Trophy Semi-final fixture against Mumbai, starting March 2nd, 2024. He will join the India squad after the completion of the domestic fixture for the fifth Test, if need be," the release further added.

Rohit Sharma (C), Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), KS Bharat (WK), Devdutt Padikkal, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep.
