Lucknow Super Giants post a special message for captain KL Rahul after T20 World Cup 2024 squad snub

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul did not find a place in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad. As per reports, Rahul was a frontrunner to be included in the 15-man squad as backup wicketkeeper for Rishabh Pant. However, Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) in-form captain Sanju Samson was picked in the squad announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on April 30. 
 

"Our No.1 since Day Zero (blue heart emoji)," LSG posted on X less an hout after T20 World Cup 2024 squad announcement. 

Rahul vs Samson in IPL 2024 numbers

Rahul has been in fine form of late. He has scored 378 runs from nine innings at an average of 42 including three half-centuries. He was not far behind Samson who has 385 runs from same number of innings at an average of 77 including four half-centuries. However, Rahul's strike rate of 144.27 is considerably lower than Samson's 161.08.
 

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant who is the preferred wicketkeeper-batter has scored 398 runs from 11 innings at an average of 44.22 including three half-centuries. His strike rate is 158.26. 
 

Rahul’s last T20I appearance

Rahul The 32-year-old made his last T20I appearance in the T20 World Cup 2022 semifinal against England in Adelaide. He departed for a single-digit score to Chris Woakes. Since then injury has led to Rahul going in and out of the squad in other formats. When there was a chance for him to make a comeback, he got injured during Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and was ruled out of action for months.

Rahul has a good record in the USA. He scored his maiden T20I century in Florida against West Indies. Overall, he has 2,265 runs from 68 T20I innings at an average of 37.75 including two centuries and 22 half-centuries.
