Marcus Stoinis among four Australian cricketers stripped of central contracts by Cricket Australia; check full list

David Warner who is expected to draw curtains to his T20I career after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup has also been left out of the contracted players list.

Cricket Australia (CA) released the list of centrally contracted players for the 2024-25 season and star all-rounder Marcus Stoinis was dropped from the list. Along with Stoinis, Ashton Agar, Marcus Harris, and Michael Neser were axed from the centrally contracted list while four new players were included. Xavier Bartlett, Nathan Ellis, Matt Short, and Aaron Hardie were handed central contracts for the 2024-25 season.

Two more glaring omissions included Test specialist Matt Renshaw and T20 specialist Tim David.

Meanwhile, David Warner who is expected to draw curtains to his T20I career after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup has also been left out of the contracted players list. Warner already announced his retirement from Test and ODI cricket. Since the contract is for the 2024-25 season, Cricket Australia decided to part ways with the superstar batter.

"Matt, Aaron and Xavier have been extremely impressive in the early stages of their international careers," National selection chief George Bailey said.

“Their performances and the way they have embraced the international stage has been exciting to watch.

“The panel believes they have strong futures and are deserved of their contracts as they work towards striving to become regulars in the Australian setup," he added.
