Matthew Wade left shocked as umpire Nitin Menon shoos him away leading to heated argument; video goes viral

Australia’s wicketkeeper-batter Matthew Wade was left shocked by umpire Nitin Menon as he shooed him away for arguing over potential dead ball during the encounter against England at Kensington Oval, Barbados. 
 

In the 18th over of the innings, Wade hit leg-spinner Adil Rashid for a four. On the next delivery, Wade signalled he was not ready for the ball and pulled out. However, he moved outside the leg stump and defended it back to the bowler.
 

Wade expected Menon to give it a dead ball but the latter was not happy with the batter playing it back to the bowler instead of letting the ball go into wicketkeeper Jos Buttler’s gloves. 

Wade was animated after Menon’s decision to call it a legitimate delivery leading to a crucial dot. Menon signalled Wade to go back and take his guard instead of arguing with him. 
 

On the next ball, Wade took a single after playing the ball square of the wicket. As soon as he reached the non-striker end, he had a conversation with the umpire again. He also had an argument with Rashid. 
 

Later, Marcus Stoinis finished the over with a boundary. Rashid conceded 12 runs from the over. He conceded 41 runs from his four overs and bagged the wicket of Glenn Maxwell.

Australia cross 200-run mark

Wade remained unbeaten for 17 off 10 balls and took Australia's score to 201/7. This is the first 200-plus total in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.
 

Earlier, Buttler won the toss and opted to bat first. David Warner and Travis Head went berserk in the powerplay overs. They shared a 70-run partnership. Cameos from skipper Mitchell Marsh, and Stoinis helped Australia get the score past 200.

Warner thinks Australia have enough on the board

“I think it’s a competitive total, we took it on in the first six overs and put pressure on them. We knew it was going to be spin in the first six, for us it was about to get as much as we can in the first six. We know at the other end it was going to get challenging, but look they got two out and out quicks, excellent skills, so had to put them under pressure,” Warner said during the innings break.
 

“When Jofra bowled an off-cutter it jumped but it was when the ball was new, later on a few kept low, we have got a good total.”
