Australian T20I captain Mitchell Marsh gave a massive update on his hamstring injury. He said he will currently only be available to bat and won't bowl.
Australian T20I captain Mitchell Marsh has provided a major update on his hamstring injury ahead of the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup 2024 which is set to be held in the West Indies and United States, from June 2. The same injury forced him to rule out of the latest season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 after playing just four matches.
Marsh provides injury update
Marsh revealed that he is still recovering from the injury but is still confident of featuring in both warm-up games for Australia. However, he is still only available in the batting role, and don't want to aggravate his injury ahead of the main matches. He said with Marcus Stoinis and Cameron Green being in the side they have plenty of bowling options but will bowl when the team needs him to. Australia will face Namibia in their first warm-up game on May 28 and then West Indies on 30 May.

"I'm probably still a little while off (bowling) – I'll start bowling hopefully soon. Get through these practice games as a batter and then we'll ramp it up. We're lucky that we've got so many options with the ball and so much talent with Stoin, Greeny. I'll bowl when I need to bowl," Marsh told cricket.com.au.
"I thought (this injury) was a three-weeker. Now it's been seven (weeks). With tendons it's a little bit on feel. Once I was ruled out of the IPL, we certainly took our time. I'm exactly where I need to be with all the planning leading into the World Cup, I'll be ready to go," he added.
