Mohammed Siraj injures Mohammad Rizwan's right hand with wild throw, apologises as batter winces in pain; watch video

The clashes between India and Pakistan are always high voltage. Tempers flare at times as both teams don’t want to give each other an inch. In Pakistan’s run chase, one such incident was witnessed when Mohammed Siraj took a shy at stumps as Mohammad Rizwan took a few steps outside the crease after playing the ball back to him. Siraj in an attempt to run out Rizwan ended up hitting the opener’s right hand. 
 

As soon as the ball hit his right glove, he winced in pain. The ball went towards fine leg and Rizwan managed to take a single. As he got to the other end, Siraj checked in on him and apologised for hitting his hand unintentionally.

Siraj conceded 10 runs from three overs with the new ball after India were bowled out for 119 in 19 overs. He contributed with the bat as well scoring seven runs from seven deliveries. On the other hand, Rizwan opted to play the anchor role on a tricky pitch at Nassau Country International Stadium, New York. During his knock, he struggled with his right glove and often took it off. 

Ravichandran Ashwin lauded Rizwan for fighting through the pain. 

“I love this pain fighting Rizwan. He almost always battles with pain while he is batting,” Ashwin wrote on X. 
 

 

However, Rizwan could not take Pakistan home. He got bowled by Jasprit Bumrah on the first ball of the 15th over. He scored 31 runs from 44 balls including a four and a six.
