MS Dhoni's ex-CSK teammate announces retirement from all cricket, says 'From the age of five, I knew this...'

West Indies' Dwayne Bravo, who is included in the list of the world's fiercest all-rounders and is famous as DJ Bravo, has now announced his complete retirement from all formats of cricket. Although he had already retired from international cricket and IPL. But now at the age of 40, he has said goodbye to cricket in the middle of the season from the Caribbean Premier League played in his country West Indies. Bravo made an emotional post on Instagram while announcing his retirement and spoke his heart out.

Bravo is the bowling coach of Chennai

Bravo announced his international retirement in 2021 and after that he started appearing in other roles. He was the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowling coach in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He joined CSK in 2018 and the franchise won the title that year. Bravo took his Instagram to say goodbye to cricket.

“Today is the day I say goodbye to the game that has given me everything. From the age of five, I knew this was what I wanted to do—this was the sport I was destined to play. I had no interest in anything else, and I dedicated my entire life to you. In return, you gave me the life I dreamed of for myself and my family. For that, I can’t thank you enough. Twenty-one years as a professional cricketer - it’s been an incredible journey, filled with many highs and a few lows. Most importantly, I was able to live my dream because I gave you at every step. As much as I’d love to continue this relationship, it’s time to face reality. My mind wants to keep going, but my body can no longer endure the pain, the breakdowns, and the strain. I can’t put myself in a position where I might let down my teammates, my fans, or the teams I represent” Bravo wrote in his Instagram post. 

 

Bravo retired due to injury

 

Talking about Bravo, while playing for Trinbago Knight Riders in the ongoing season of the Caribbean Premier League, he got injured while fielding against the St. Lucia team. Bravo suffered a back injury and this has now become the reason for his retirement. Bravo was out of the entire season due to this injury and he has now announced his retirement. Bravo, who has been playing T20 cricket since 2006, holds the record for taking the most wickets in this format. Bravo has taken 631 wickets in 582 matches.
