Was MS Dhoni behind Ravindra Jadeja's prank on Chennai fans? Tushar Deshpande spills beans on 'paisa vasool' moment during CSK vs KKR clash
Tushar Deshpande revealed how MS Dhoni masterminded Ravindra Jadeja's prank on Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) fans during IPL 2024's clash against KKR.
The legendary MS Dhoni knows it all when it comes to entertaining Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) fans. A recent video on the Indian Premier League (IPL) website from Tuesday's match between CSK and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will only prove the above statement right.
social media buzzed with a clip from the CSK versus KKR match. It showed Ravindra Jadeja walking out to bat after Shivam Dube's dismissal, leaving the Chennai Super Kings fans present at the Chepauk stadium momentarily confused. But the plot twist came later. It turned out the whole thing was a prank orchestrated by none other than MS Dhoni himself.
The video, originally shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), captured Jadeja's walkout, which initially disappointed the crowd. However, it was all a playful setup. Jadeja quickly turned back, laughing, before Dhoni made his entrance to a thunderous roar from the fans.
A new video on the IPL website featuring CSK players discussing their 7-wicket win over KKR sheds light on the Jadeja prank. Fast bowler Tushar Deshpande spills the beans, revealing that MS Dhoni was the mastermind behind the playful act that had the Chepauk crowd on the edge of their seats!
"Dhoni told Jaddu, 'Jana tu hi, par batting first main jaunga (You go first, but it will be me who will walk out to bat)'. I overheard it," Deshpande revealed.
The IPL video reveals a hilarious scene. After Shivam Dube's dismissal, Jadeja is in the dugout. We see the former CSK captain, Dhoni, putting on his batting gear in the dressing room, catching Jadeja's eye. This playful setup had the Chennai team members in stitches before Dhoni finally walked out to bat, fulfilling the fans' eager anticipation.
Jadded while adding to the conversation and said:
“Woh sirf apna ek jhalak inn logon ko dikhaye toh inn keliye ticket ka paisa vasool ho jayega (If he only shows a glimpse of himself, their ticket will be worth).”
The chase for CSK was a breeze thanks to a fantastic knock by their skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad. He remained unbeaten on 67 off 58 deliveries, laying the foundation for victory. Shivam Dube then played a useful cameo to ensure CSK crossed the finish line comfortably with 14 balls remaining.
This win marked CSK's third victory of the season, and interestingly, all three have come at home. Their away games haven't been as successful, with losses against Delhi Capitals in Vizag and Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad.
