Amol Kale, the President of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), has passed away from a cardiac arrest while in the USA. He was attending the India versus Pakistan T20 World Cup match match at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Sunday night, accompanied by MCA office bearers.

Amol Kale no more

Known as a close aide to Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, Kale was in New York with MCA secretary Ajinkya Naik and Apex Council member Suraj Samat. The 47-year-old Kale had assumed the role of MCA president after defeating former India and Mumbai cricketer Sandip Patil in the elections held in October 2022.

Amol Kale, who had previously served as the MCA's vice president, won the presidency in October 2022. He defeated former Indian cricketer Sandip Patil in a close election. During his 19-month term, Kale implemented some significant changes. Notably, the MCA decided to match the BCCI's match fees for all their red-ball players in the upcoming season (2024-25).
While originally from Nagpur, the headquarters of the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA), Kale had lived in Mumbai for over ten years and was a successful businessman in the state.

Amol Kale, who held a BE in Electrical Engineering from Nagpur University, was the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of J K Solutions Private Limited and Arpita Enterprises.

Although he had not completed two years in his tenure as MCA president, Kale received widespread praise for his decision to ensure Mumbai cricketers received the same match fee as those offered by the BCCI. Under his leadership, the MCA successfully hosted several international matches at the Wankhede Stadium, including the India vs. New Zealand Test and the 2023 World Cup matches.

Pakistan's embarrassing defeat against India

Talking about the India versus Pakistan match which Amol Kale was attending, Rohit Sharma's brigade held their nerves and pulled off a thrilling six-run victory Babar Azam's brigade. After posting a lowly total of 119 runs, India rode on Jasprit Bumrah's back-breaking three-fer to clinch a six-run win over Pakistan. Earlier rain interruptions disrupted India's batting, and Pakistani pacers Naseem Shah and Mohammad Amir took advantage of a tricky pitch to restrict them. Rishabh Pant was the lone bright spot with some impressive shots, but India suffered a batting collapse, losing seven wickets for just 38 runs in a short span. However, the Indian bowlers rose to the challenge. Bumrah and Hardik Pandya bowled economically, conceding very few runs, and India ultimately defended their total, restricting Pakistan to 113 and winning by a thrilling six runs.
