IPL 2024: Kartik makes a shocking claim and calls RCB bowler Yash Dayal 'trash', angry fans brutally troll him for bizarre comment
Kartik was heard saying 'someone's trash is someone's treasure' while appreciating Dayal for his superb bowling performance against the Punjab Kings on Monday.
Former India spinner, Murali Kartik stunned the audience with his bizarre choice of word to describe Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) bowler Yash Dayal. Kartik, who is part of the commentary panel in the ongoing 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), referred to Yash Dayal as 'trash' which didn't sit well with the fans. Kartik's shocking claim came during RCB's match against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on March 25 (Monday).
What did Murali Karthik say?
Murali Kartik referred to Yash Dayal as 'trash' and 'treasure' in the same breath. Kartik was heard saying 'someone's trash is someone's treasure' while appreciating Dayal for his superb bowling performance against the Punjab Kings on Monday. The left-arm seamer conceded just 10 runs in his first three overs during the powerplay.
Kartik's leveling Dayal as trash came because of what happened in the previous edition of the cash-rich tournament. While playing for the Gujarat Titans, Dayal was hit for consecutive sixes by Rinku Singh in the last over of the match. The left-arm pacer had failed to defend 30 runs in the last over.
Fans slammed Kartik for his comment.
What happened in RCB's encounter against PBKS?
RCB's veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik showcased a vintage performance against Punjab Kings, leading his team to a four-wicket victory with an emphatic performance under pressure in a clutch run chase. Playing at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Karthik, alongside impact player Mahipal Lomror, dramatically changed the momentum of the match by finding boundaries with unconventional shots.
Following Virat Kohli's dismissal, who scored 77 runs off 49 balls with the help of 11 fours and two sixes, RCB were in all sorts of bother. An explosive and unbroken 48-run stand for the seventh wicket between Karthik and Lomror in just 18 balls enabled the hosts to clinch the win with four balls remaining.
With this victory, RCB opened their account in the win's column this season as they lost their opening match of the competition. Punjab Kings suffered their first defeat after they had won their first match.
