Bangladesh’s premier left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman was rushed to a local hospital after getting hit on his head by Comilla Victorians captain Litton Das in the practice session. The accident took place during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise’s training session on the eve of their clash against Sylhet Strikers at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

Rahman was hit as he was walking back after bowling a delivery. As soon as he got hit, players and support staff rushed it his aid. Before, he was taken to Dhaka’s Imperial Hospital, he was given first-aid on the bleeding spot. The initial CT scans have cleared Rahman of any internal injuries.

"During practice, a ball hit directly at the left parietal area (head) of Mustafizur Rahman. There was an open wound at his parietal area and we have worked with compression bandage to stop bleeding and immediately shifted him to Imperial hospital," a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) media release stated.

Rahman’s form in BPL 2024

The 28-year-old has been in decent form this season with 11 wickets from nine matches. Currently, the Comilla Victorians are just one step away from booking their spot in the playoffs. They are placed second on the points table with seven wins from nine games and a positive net run rate (NRR).

Big blow to Comilla Victorians

Rahman is likely to be rested for the clash against Sylhet Strikers. His participation may be doubtful for the future clashes against Rangpur Riders and Fortune Barishal on February 20 and 21 respectively.

Packed scheduled for Rahman in next few months

After BPL 2023 ends on March 1, Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in the T20I series starting March 4. The two teams will also play a three-ODI series followed by two Tests. Then Rahman will head to India and join Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
