There's a high chance of rain washing out the upcoming T20 World Cup match between Pakistan and Ireland. Florida's weather forecast is grim, predicting heavy rain and potential flash floods. This raises concerns about the safety of fans, staff, and players, and whether the match can be played at Central Broward Park Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida. It also puts the ICC's contingency plans in question.

Severe weather threats have led to a state of emergency being declared in Broward County, Florida, which includes Lauderhill. The city's official website has issued a press release press release regarding the situation which stated:

“A weather system has brought South Florida excessive rain yesterday (Tuesday) and today. It is likely to continue through Friday. The City Of Lauderhill has crews working in areas of concern to help minimize ponding.”

"Wednesday's downpours and subsequent flooding blocked roads, floated vehicles and delayed the Florida Panthers on their way to Stanley Cup games in Canada against the Edmonton Oilers… Numerous roads were flooded and impassable for vehicles. On major artery Interstate 95 in Broward County, southbound traffic was being diverted around a flooded section, and contractors were on their way to pump the drainage system" AP news website read. 

 

There's a chance of flooding across South Florida until Friday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Will Pakistan vs Ireland match be moved to some other venue?

The grim weather forecast has fans worried sick, and many are calling for the ICC to relocate the match. However, this is easier said than done. Finding a new venue with the right facilities and availability on such short notice is a logistical nightmare. Rescheduling within the tournament schedule is also tricky.

On a brighter note, the ICC website outlines the process for relocation. Fans holding tickets for the original venue can use them at the new location if a switch occurs. Those who can't attend the relocated match can request a refund through the ICC website. The ICC will keep everyone informed via email, detailing how to get new tickets or request a refund.

 

Rain could wash away Pakistan's hopes

 

With India's win over USA, Pakistan's qualification doesn't depend on Net Run Rate anymore. Their fate hinges on two things: beating Ireland and hoping Ireland defeats the USA. But a washout against Ireland would be a disaster, sending Pakistan packing from the tournament.
