Pakistan cricketers are likely to be facing the adverse aftermath of their embarrassing exit from the ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup 2024 following disappointing losses against co-hosts the United States and their arch-rivals Team India. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will most likely review the central contracts of their players and the risk of salary reduction might also be there. However, this is not the end, the board will be strictly enforcing their two policies for the T20 leagues across the world.

PCB to review central contracts

Last year, former PCB chief Zaka Ashraf announced a significant increase in players' earnings, as well as a fixed share of revenue from the PCB's earnings from the ICC. Even PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced that each player would get a bonus payment of USD 100,000 if they win the T20 World Cup 2024. However, as per reports some officials and former players had advised PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to review players' central contracts and this might even result in revised salaries.

"There could be a reassessment of the central contracts and the players could find their salaries, fees being cut if the Chairman decides to react strongly to the team's recent woeful performances. Nothing is final as yet but yes this strong measure has been discussed within the board with the Chairman" PTI quoted a PCB source.

PCB to enforce two-NOCs policy

Pakistan Cricket Board will enforce its two-NOCs policy for T20 leagues on all players, who sign central and domestic contracts. As per this, a player is only allowed to play in a maximum of two overseas leagues besides competing in the Pakistan Super League during a year.

The board has not yet issued any NOCs to youngsters Azam Khan and Saim Ayub to play in the Caribbean Premier League despite both players being retained by their respective franchises for this season.

"The other players have also been given a clear message that the two NOC’s rule applies to both centrally and domestic contracted players and the board also reserves the right to turn down any NOC request from any player," PTI quoted an official source in the board.

The source also talked about the recent case of Pakistan leg-spinner Usama Mir, who signed a contract for the Vitality Blast and The Hundred in England, but was told he has already played his quota of two leagues this year.

"Mir took the argument that since he was free of any international commitments and there was no domestic event he should be allowed to play in England, he was told in clear terms this is not for him but for the board to decide," the source added.
