PCB to change venue for Pakistan vs England Test matches amid Champions Trophy 2025 preparations: Check details

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will most likely change the venue for the Pakistan vs England Test matches which are scheduled to start from October 7.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are currently preparing for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 which is scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan next year and most of the venues that will witness the clashes of marquee event are currently under renovation. Now, the Pakistan cricket team are also scheduled to play a three-Test match series against England on their home soil. Earlier, there were reports that the Test series would be shifted to a neutral venue. 

 

As per Cricket Pakistan, PCB will announce the schedule for this series within two days. PCB have decided to hold the Test matches in Multan and Rawalpindi, with plans to host the first two Tests in Multan. The decision to exclude Karachi as a venue was made due to ongoing construction work.

 

“While the exact schedule for the series remains to be confirmed, the PCB's intention is to capitalize on the conditions in Multan by hosting two Tests there. However, an alternative option is to hold the first and third Tests in Rawalpindi” the report added.

However, England have announced their squad for the Pakistan tour where Ben Stokes is making his comeback to the national side after getting injured in August.  The England skipper is set to undergo a scan next week to assess his readiness for the first Test. On the other hand, PCB is yet to announce their squad for the series. After losing the two Test match series against Bangladesh, Pakistani cricketers are currently featuring in their domestic series Champions Cup. 

 

Shan Masood-led side will look to change Pakistan's fortunes in the upcoming Test series against England for their first Test victory at home since February 2021.
