Former KKR batter smashes Punjab Kings pacer for 14 runs in an over to reach maiden Duleep Trophy century; watch video

India A opener Pratham Singh who replaced captain Shubman Gill in the side scored his maiden Duleep Trophy century on Day 3 of round clash against India D. 32-year-old Pratham scored 122 runs from 189 balls including 12 fours and a six at Rural Development Trust Stadium, Anantapur.
 

In the first session of Day 3, Pratham looked in a hurry to reach his second First-Class ton. In the 49th over of the innings, Pratham hit Punjab Kings (PBKS) pacer for a six over deep square leg. After facing three dot balls, he hit two consecutive fours to reach his century from 149 balls.
 

Paratham was dismissed by left-arm spinner Saurabh Kumar. He went for the drive and edged it to slip fielder Shreyas Iyer. His 122-run knock from 189 balls including 12 fours and a six.
 

Earlier, India A captain Mayank Agarwal scored a half-century. Agarwal was dismissed by Shreyas on Day 2. The two openers shared a 115-run stand. Pratham shared a 104-run partnership for second wicket with Tilak Varma. He reached his half-century in the first session as well. The left-handed batter took 96 deliveries to reach the milestone.

Kaverappa got Pratham out in first innings

Earlier, in the first innings, he scored seven runs from 33 balls. He was dismissed by Kaverappa with the new ball. In the first innings, Kaverappa got the wickets of both openers.

Pratham’s IPL career

32-year-old Pratham has been picked by two Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises but yet to make his debut. The Delhi-born batter was a part of now-defunct Gujarat Lions’ squad in 2017. He was picked for his base price of Rs 10 lakh. Five years later, he was picked for his base price of Rs 20 lakh by two-time IPL-winning Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). 
 

Pratham’s first-class numbers

Pratham's maiden first-class century came for Railways earlier this year in Ranji Trophy 2023-24. He scored an unbeaten 169 against Tripura. Before the ongoing Duleep Trophy clash, he had 1,568 runs from 29 First-Class games at an average of 35.63 including 10 half-centuries.
