Ravi Shastri on becoming coach again

Shastri said the reason he would want to become a coach again is to contribute to the youth and bring the best out of the young and upcoming names. He wants to invest and help in cultivating the future.

"You don't rule that out. Once you have been involved with the game and played the game and you wanted to contribute to the youth, then that will always linger in your mind. If I ever go there, it will be precisely for that reason. Not to see the superstars carrying on the way they are, but to cultivate, identify and groom talent, and take them through the roof," said Shastri on Ravichandran Ashwin's YouTube channel.

Shastri on if he wanted to be IPL coach in 2021

After Shastri's tenure with Team India came to an end, many believed there was a possibility that the former cricketer might be seen in the dugout of some IPL franchise helping them in their campaign but instead he turned to commentary and broadcast again. He revealed how the Covid period had a toll on him and he wanted a break and freedom to express himself.

"You know, there is no doubting the experience you have and what you can bring to the table, but after 7 years with the Indian team, especially those times -- you were there -- the toughest time that game has seen since the World War II -- during Covid, quarantine and the bubbles, you just wanted ta break from the dugout, the dressing room and everything. The broadcasting and the mic gave me the freedom to express myself again. And have some fun," said Shastri.

Ravi Shastri has been one of the most iconic Indian coaches and India had some really historic moments during his tenure but the former head coach can not take the role again because as per BCCI's recent released criteria, they are looking for a coach who is below 60 years.
