Star batter Rinku Singh's father revealed that his son was heartbroken after being snubbed by BCCI from the Indian T20 World Cup 2024 squad.
Star player Rinku Singh's father revealed that their son is heartbroken after failing to make it into the 15-member Indian squad for the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup 2024 which is set to be held in the West Indies and USA. BCCI announced the team that will be competing in the mega tournament under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma and their decision not including the likes of Rinku and Shubman Gill shocked everyone. However, both players are currently available as traveling reserves.
Rinku Singh's father on T20 World Cup snub
Rinku Singh's father expressed his heartbreaking emotions following his son's snub from the Indian T20 World Cup 2024 squad. He said they all bought sweets and firecrackers to celebrate Rinku's selection and to see him play in the eleven but were a little sad after the squad announcement news.
"Ummide to bhot thi, lkin thoda dhuk bhi hai. Mithai aur Patakhe lakr rakh rkhe the ki jb ye eleven me khelega. Tab bhi humme bhot khushi hai. (Had a lot of hopes but also feelilng a little sad. We brought sweets and crackers to see him play in the eleven but we are still happy)," Rinku Singh's father told Bharat 24.
"Kaha tha usne apni maa se ki uska dil tuta hai. Kh rha tha mummy 11 aur 15 me naam nhi hai pr mai jaa rha hu vha 18 me. (He told his mother that he is heartbroken. He told her that his name in not in the 11 or 15 but will be going there as a part of 18)," Rinku's father added.
India’s T20 World Cup squad
"The Senior Selection Committee on Tuesday picked India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will be hosted in the West Indies and USA," BCCI said in their official statement.
"India will begin their World Cup campaign against Ireland on June 05, 2024 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York, followed by the marquee clash against Pakistan on June 09, 2024 at the same venue. India will then play USA and Canada on June 12 and 15 respectively," the statement further added.
Rohit Sharma (c), Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Hardik Pandya (vc), Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj.
Reserves - Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan.
