Watch: Sanju Samson engages in heated exchange with umpire after third umpire's decision goes against him

Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson’s wicket turned out to be the turning point of the run chase at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Samson got caught at the fence by Shai Hope. The Caribbean player was just inside the boundary and from a few angles checked by the third umpire Michael Gough, it wasn’t clear. When the big screen showed the umpire’s decision, Samson was left stunned as he wasn’t convinced that he was out. 
 

Samson had a heated discussion with the on-field umpire before walking off the field. Meanwhile, DC franchise's co-owner and chairman Parth Jindal wasn’t happy with Samson and gestured him to leave the field. 

He departed for a 46-ball 86 featuring eight fours and six sixes. When he lost his wicket to Mukesh Kumar in the 16th over, RR needed 60 runs from 26 balls. 
 

However, after the match, Samson did not make any controversial statement. 
 

“We had it in our hands, it was 10-11 rpo which was achievable but these things happen in the IPL. I think we're doing both things fine, we want to stick to what the conditions demand. 220 was 10 too much, had we conceded 2 boundaries less, we'd have gotten through easily,” he said.

Samson praises DC’s overseas batters

Samson lauded DC’s young opener Jake Fraser-McGurk for an explosive knock. He felt that RR bowlers were not effective in the last two overs.
 

“DC batted really well. Their opener (Fraser-McGurk) started well, kept doing what he has through the tournament. Ashwin got him out. I felt we gave away too much in the last two overs. We have lost 3 games but all have been tight. We have been playing great cricket throughout. Results can go either way but we need to keep the fine tuning going and come back as this tournament doesn't allow us to relax,” he added.

He also praised DC’s in-form middle-order batter Tristan Stubbs who targetted Sandeep Sharma in the final over.
 

“We have to give credit to Stubbs for how he batted against Sandeep, who has been our best in the last 10-11 games. He scored 2-3 extra sixes. We have to look at where we went wrong and move forward,” the 29-year-old further added.
