Sarfaraz Ahmed sacrifices his wicket after finding Quetta Gladiators skipper Rilee Rossouw and himself at same end; watch video

Quetta Gladiators suffered a batting collapse against Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 clash. After Hasan Ali's double strike in the ninth over, the last thing Quetta Gladiators would have wanted was a run-out. Sarfaraz Ahmed and Rilee Rossouw got involved in a mix-up which led to the former's wicket. Sarfaraz was watching the ball instead of his partner and sacrificed his wicket upon realising the mistake. 
 

Sarfaraz pays for the mistake

The incident took place in the 12th over of the innings. Shoaib Malik's three-run over had put pressure on both batters. On the second ball bowled by Blessing Muzarabani in the over, Sarfaraz steered it towards backward point. He initially wanted a single but then said no. However, Rossouw was running towards the danger's end and it was his call. Both the batters found themselves at the same end which was followed by Sarfaraz leaving the crease and getting run-out.

Rossouw failed to make it count

Sarfaraz departed after scoring just seven runs from eight balls. Rossouw could not make the most of the opportunity either. After failing to find a boundary, he lost his wicket to leg-spinner Zahid Mahmood. He scored 10 runs from 16 balls. Quetta Gladiators suffered a batting collapse. From 81/3, they were bowled out for 118 in the 20th over. 
 

Ali’s outstanding numbers 

Muzarabani got rid of Sherfane Rutherford. Mahmood struck again to dismiss Mohammad Amir. In the penultimate over, Ali struck twice to get rid of Akeal Hosein and Mohammad Hasnain. Mir Hamza bowled a yorker to get rid of Usman Tariq to wrap up Quetta Gladiators’ innings. Ali was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets for just 15 runs in four overs. 
 

Karachi make short work of run chase

Amir struck early dismissing skipper Shan Masood in his first over. Tim Seifert and James Vince shared a 50-run partnership. The Englishman was dismissed by Hosein in the ninth over. Seifert did not let Quetta Gladiators make a comeback. In the 14th over, Abrar Ahmed got him stumped. Seifert scored 49 runs from 31 balls including six fours and two sixes. In the 16th over, Malik finished the run chase with a maximum.
