'He has put a lot of pressure on Suryakumar, Pant, Iyer, KL Rahul': Virender Sehwag roots for this CSK star for T20 World Cup 2024

The countdown for the T20 World Cup 2024 has already begun and the BCCI’s (Board of Control for Cricket in India) selection committee, headed by former Indian pacer Ajit Agarkar will be announcing the 15-member squad for the ICC T20 World Cup in about three weeks. With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 underway, Shivam Dube’s name has already started making rounds for the T20 World Cup 2024's squad. Meanwhile, Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag said he should be there in the squad for the T20 World Cup and this will put pressure on players like Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Kumar, and KL Rahul.
On Friday, April 6, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by six wickets. SRH were chasing the target of 166. On the Hyderabad pitch, where other CSK batters struggled to make runs, Shivam Dube smashed 45 off 24 balls with four sixes and two fours. CSK managed to score only 165 in the first innings. Dube has scored 148 runs in four matches with a strike rate of 160.86.

Sehwag wants Shivam Dube in India's T20 World Cup squad

Virender Sehwag said that Shivam Dube’s place should be confirmed for the T20 World Cup squad and with the kind of batting he is doing he has put pressure on the key players of the team. He further urged India's selection committee to take the players who are in form.
“I said before the match that the way Shivam Dube has been playing, his ticket should be confirmed for the T20 World Cup. He has put a lot of pressure on players like Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, KL Rahul and now they have to score consistent runs to make the World Cup squad. Take the players who are in form,” Sehwag said, during a conversation with Cricbuzz.

‘I Feel he has to be in the World Cup squad’

Meanwhile, former Indian legendary all-rounder Yuvraj Singh mentioned Shivam Dube as the ‘game changer’ and he also backed his selection for the T20 World Cup squad. He wrote on X:
 

“Good to watch @IamShivamDube clearing the field with ease !! I feel he has to be in the World Cup squad . Has got the skill to be the #gamechanger #CSKvsSRH #IPLT20," Yuvraj wrote on X.
