'Would be better for both of us to...': Shubman Gill keeps chat with James Anderson private on most talked-about six on Day 2

The pinnacle of Shubman Gill's impressive 110-run innings during the second day of the fifth Test against England in Dharamsala was his magnificent six straight down the ground off James Anderson. The shot was so captivating that commentator Harsha Bhogle expressed his admiration live, as he was left wondering what Gill had in breakfast in the morning. The broadcast even captured England captain Ben Stokes showing his respect and astonishment with a nod.

Following the shot, Gill and Anderson was seen exchanging words with each other, as the Indian batter had charged down the pitch to dispatch the ball into the spectators. When inquired about the nature of their conversation, Gill chose to keep the exchange confidential, insisting that it remain private.

Shubman Gill refuses to reveal chat with James Anderson

"I think it would be better for both of us to keep that chat in private," Gill told the official broadcasters after Day 2's stump.

 

 

Gill, after notching his second century of the series, credited his success to his father's foresight and expressed that his father would take pride in his accomplishment.

 

"This was my father's vision, he would b proud of my performance today. The ball wasn't doing much at (the start) and instinctively I wanted to put (Anderson) under pressure. I feel good every time I go out with the bat. I missed out on a big one but I'm feeling good," he said.

 

India tighten screw on England

Centuries by captain Rohit Sharma and Gill solidified India's dominance in the final Test against England, achieving a 255-run advantage. The hosts concluded the second day at 473-8, with Kuldeep Yadav (27) and Jasprit Bumrah (19) at the crease in the scenic setting of the Dharamsala stadium.

 

India had earlier dismissed England for a mere 218, with the Indian spin trio - Kuldeep Yadav (5/72), Ravichandran Ashwin (4/51), and Ravindra Jadeja (1/17) - claiming all 10 wickets. Despite a strong start led by Zak Crawley's 79, England's innings folded quickly, plummeting from 175/3 to all out at 218. Ashwin, in his 100th Test appearance alongside Jonny Bairstow in Dharamsala, took the final four wickets, exacerbating England's collapse.
