India's batting juggernaut Virat Kohli dominated the IPL 2024 season, claiming the Orange Cap for being the top run-scorer of the glitzy league. However, his form in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 has been a cause for concern. In the three matches played so far, Kohli has struggled to score runs, failing to even reach double digits. His scores against Ireland, Pakistan, and most recently, the USA, were a meager 1, 4, and 0 respectively.  All three of these matches were held at Nassau Stadium in New York, where Kohli has managed a mere 5 runs in total.

Despite Kohli's recent slump, legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar believes there's no need to panic. The highly respected commentator feels Kohli simply needs some patience to rediscover his form.

Sunil Gavaskar on Virat Kohli's patchy form in T20 World Cup

"The biggest motivation for any players is to win matches, especially when you are playing for your country. He has done so well for India over the years and won so many games. I think he recognises that. We are in the early phases of the tournament. There's Super 8s, semi-finals, and hopefully the final. All he needs to do is show patience and faith in himself, which i think he has plenty," Gavaskar said on Star Sports after the match.

While Kohli's dismissal against the USA was a straightforward catch behind the wicket, his previous two outings were uncharacteristic. In those matches, he was caught in unconventional fielding positions – third man and point – suggesting he might not be at his most focused.

However, legend Sunil Gavaskar remains confident in Kohli's abilities. Gavaskar assures everyone that there's nothing fundamentally wrong with Kohli's batting technique. He firmly believes Kohli will bounce back and start scoring runs again, and it likely won't be long before he finds his form.

"When you get three low scores, it doesn't mean he is not batting well. Sometimes you get good deliveries. Any other day, the ball would've gone wide or over the slip for a boundary, today it didn't. So, there's nothing to worry about. We have to show faith in him. Much believe that he is going to come good, sooner rather than later," the batting great added.

Securing a convincing win over the USA on Wednesday (June 12th), Team India became the third team to qualify for the Super 4 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. However, star batsman Virat Kohli will be looking to rediscover his form when India plays their final group stage match against Ireland in Florida this coming Saturday (June 15th).
