South African spinner Tabraiz Shamsi has expressed his belief that the outcome of the T20 World Cup 2024 final could have been different if the catch taken by Suryakumar Yadav had been reviewed. In a comment on a viral video, Shamsi suggested that a closer examination of the catch might have led to its being ruled out. The T20 World Cup 2024 final, held at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, remains a memorable contest between India and South Africa. India emerged victorious in a thrilling finish, snatching victory from the brink of defeat. A key moment in the final over was Suryakumar Yadav's stunning catch near the boundary to dismiss David Miller.

South Africa required 16 runs to win in the final over. Hardik Pandya bowled a full toss on the first ball, which David Miller struck powerfully. The ball appeared destined to clear the boundary, but Suryakumar Yadav executed a remarkable catch. Suryakumar Yadav displayed exceptional awareness, leaping high and taking the catch just inches inside the boundary ropes. He then returned to complete the catch, dismissing Miller and securing India's victory in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Following India's victory in the T20 World Cup 2024, Suryakumar Yadav received widespread praise for his crucial catch. However, some questioned the legality of the catch, suggesting that he might have touched the boundary ropes, resulting in a six and an unfair win for India.

Two months later, South African spinner Tabraiz Shamsi made a surprising comment. Reacting to a video online where players humorously used ropes to measure the boundary to assess a catch, Shamsi suggested that if the International Cricket Council had employed this method to review the catch in the final, David Miller might have been ruled not out.
