Suryakumar Yadav's Test comeback takes big hit after massive injury scare in Buchi Babu match ahead of series against Bangladesh
Suryakumar Yadav's preparations for the Duleep Trophy were disrupted by a massive injury scare. While fielding for Mumbai in the Buchi Babu tournament Suryakumar picked up hand injury.
Star batter's Suryakumar Yadav's aspirations of returning to the Indian Test team have faced a setback due to a hand injury sustained during the Buchi Babu tournament. The injury has cast doubt on his participation in the upcoming Duleep Trophy, a crucial tournament for making a case for selection in the Indian Test squad.
Suryakumar Yadav's Test comeback takes a dent
Yadav had viewed the Buchi Babu tournament and the Duleep Trophy as opportunities to showcase his skills and stake his claim for a Test comeback. However, his injury has disrupted his plans and may hinder his chances of being included in India's long Test season, which includes five Tests at home and five away. The injury occurred during Yadav's match against TNCA XI in the Buchi Babu competition, where he scored a low 30. Given the nature of the injury, it is uncertain whether he will be able to recover in time for the Duleep Trophy.
Suryakumar Yadav picks injury during fielding
Suryakumar Yadav suffered a hand injury during Mumbai's group-stage match against TNCA XI in the Buchi Babu tournament. The injury occurred on the third day of the match while fielding in TNCA XI's second innings. Yadav was positioned at leg slip when Pradosh Ranjan Paul, a left-handed batsman, flicked a leg-stump delivery from Musheer Khan towards him. Yadav attempted to stop the ball but was struck on the hand by the bouncing ball.
Injured Suryakumar Yadav leaves the field
Immediately after being struck by the ball, Suryakumar Yadav winced in pain and shook his hand. He held his injured hand tightly and appeared to be in considerable discomfort. His teammates alerted the medical staff, who attended to him on the field. Following treatment, Yadav was forced to leave the field. Yadav did not return to bat in Mumbai's second innings, which resulted in their dismissal for 223 runs and a defeat by 286 runs. As of now, there has been no official statement from the Mumbai Cricket Association regarding the severity of Yadav's injury. It will be interesting to see whether he will be able to participate in the Duleep Trophy.
