Babar Azam-led Pakistan cricket team is set to compete against Saad Bin Zafar's Canada in match 22 of the ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup 2024 which will be played at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, on June 11 (Tuesday). The Men in Green are coming into this match after two big losses against host United States and Team India and with a rain threat over the clash against Canada, their chances to qualify for the Super 8 stage have taken a big hit.

New York weather forecast

The New York weather forecast predicts that there is a chance of rain and it can also play spoilsport in the match proceedings. The precipitation chances go up to 20 percent which can be bothering for the Pakistan team and the fans. However, it can also be just passing showers and the match might proceed with a few interruptions. If rain causes a potential washout both teams will have to share a point and that will be extremely bad for Pakistan.

Can Pakistan still qualify for Super 8 if rain causes a washout?

Pakistan are coming into this match after suffering two embarrassing losses. The first one came against the co-hosts USA in a match that went on till the Super Over. The next one was against their arch-rivals India in a low-scoring thriller. They currently have zero points but are still alive in the race for the Super 8 stage. However, a washout or loss in the match against Canada will be the dead end for them. If the PAK vs CAN match gets washed out due to rain, Pakistan will have one point in three matches and meanwhile, the USA and India will be in the top two with four points, and behind them will be Canada with three.

This will throw the Men in Green out of the race but their qualification scenario and they won't even have to be dependent on how other teams perform in the remaining group matches. Pakistan are in a must-win match and that too by a big margin and also hope that the USA lose their remaining two games.
