T20 World Cup 2024 co-hosts United States have deployed massive security in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 after ISIS reportedly threatened to target the marquee event. The most high-profile match of the tournament will be played on June 9 where arch-rivals India and Pakistan will lock horns against each other at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

New York has tightened the security of all the stadiums they also positioned snipers at covert locations around the ground to neutralise any potential threat.

Nassau's police force has worked in conjunction with the New York Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, the US Department Of Homeland Security and other agencies in the build-up to the tournament.

"The safety and security of everyone at the event is our number one priority and we have a comprehensive and robust security plan in place," the International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement to BBC Sport.

"We work closely with authorities in our host countries and continually monitor and evaluate the global landscape to ensure appropriate plans are in place to mitigate any risks identified to our event."

The parkland surrounding the ground will be closed off to the public on the eight-match days to counter the potential threat of a drone attack.

The stadium where India will face Pakistan has been built at a cost of £24m ($30m) and it will be dismantled after the tournament and the land turned back over to Nassau County.

Earlier, a video surfaced on social media where former India captain Virat Kohli was seen with massive security while he was arriving at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium for the practice session. Here is the video
