Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star Virat Kohli played a great T20 knock against Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium on April 28. He scored 70 runs off 44 balls and notched up his fourth half-century of the season and took his tally to 500 runs, making him the top run-scorer. Although he's been doing well with an average score of 71.4 and hitting a lot of runs quickly with a strike rate of 147.4. However, Kohli has often been criticised this season for his inability to take charge against the spinners, especially in the middle overs of the game. Despite winning the game by 35 runs, Kohli got a lot of flak for his low strike rate when he made 51 from 43 balls against Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

People think Kohli is God: Navjot Sidhu

Former cricketer Navjot Sidhu defended Kohli by saying people expect too much from him. He's just a human. He praised Kohli for being able to hit tough shots, like hitting a spinner for sixes, which not many can do.

"People think Kohli is God. He is a human, so will play like a human too. Rather than nitpick, why don’t we look at the fact that the guy has 80 centuries. That's his strength and weakness, he has none. And if you look carefully, today he played off the backfoot and lofted the spinners. Tell me how many can do that? Hitting a left-arm spinner against the spin… how many can do that? So Kohli has a presence, he cherishes his wicket too. What else is he supposed to do?" said Sidhu after the match.

As the selection of India's team for the upcoming T20 World Cup is around the corner, Kohli's experience will be valuable. The T20 World Cup will be played in June in the West Indies and the USA, where batting can be challenging. Kohli has done well in past tours in the Caribbean, and with India hoping to win a big international tournament after a long time, many are looking to Kohli to lead the way.
