Three players who can captain Delhi Capitals against RCB after Rishabh Pant's suspension

Delhi Capitals suffered a major blow ahead of their clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in match 62 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League after their captain Rishabh Pant received a one-match suspension for maintaining a slow-over rate in the match against Rajasthan Royals. As this was their team's third offence in IPL 2024, the DC skipper has been suspended for one match, and the rest of the players will have to pay 12 lakhs or 50 percent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser. The bigger question is who will be leading their side in the major clash.

“Mr Rishabh Pant, Captain, Delhi Capitals has been fined has been fined and suspended for one match for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match 56 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on May 07, 2024. As it was his team’s third offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Rishabh Pant was fined INR 30 Lac and suspended for one match,” stated IPL in their press release.

"The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 12 Lac or 50 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser.As per Article 8 of the IPL Code of Conduct, the Delhi Capitals filed an appeal challenging the ruling of the Match Referee. Following this, the appeal was referred to the BCCI Ombudsman for review. The Ombudsman conducted a virtual hearing and affirmed that the decision of the Match Referee remains final and binding," the statement further added.

Here is the list of players that can captain DC against RCB

 

1. David Warner

 

The star Australian batter David Warner played the role of DC skipper last season in Rishabh Pant's absence and can once again be seen with the same responsibility. However, the veteran player is currently also recovering from a finger injury. If he is fit enough to play, he will surely be the first choice for the post again.

 

2. Axar Patel

 

Axar Patel is one of the most experienced players in the Delhi Capitals camp. He has been part of the DC side for a couple of years now and can surely play the role of skipper in Pant's absence. His seniority makes him a great candidate.

 

3. Shai Hope

 

West Indies star Shai Hope can also be running in this race as he has captaincy experience at the international level. He is the ODI captain of the Windies side and is also currently one of the regulars in DC's playing XI.
