WATCH: Two West Indies players dive together to take Mumbai Indians player's catch; effort leaves bowler smiling

T20 World Cup 2024's co-hosts West Indies delivered pulled off a flawless win over South Africa in Jamaica to complete cleansweep in the three-T20I series. West Indies players were agile in the field too. In the final over of South Africa's innings, the two fielders not only avoided collision but dived to take the catch off the same delivery.
 

The incident took place on the second ball of the final over bowled by young Shamar Joseph. Gerald Coetzee backed away and tried to clear the infield on the offside but could not get the elevation or the distance. Skipper Brandon King and Obed McCoy went for the catch and dived. But at the last moment, McCoy saw his captain and did not go for the catch. King dived and completed the catch as Joseph was left smiling.

Coetzee departed for a golden duck. He became Joseph's second victim of the game. He conceded 26 runs from his quota of four overs.
 

West Indies’ clinical win

On the other hand, the left-arm pacer McCoy was in fine form as well. He got three wickets for 39 runs. He started with the wicket of Ryan Rickelton. In the slog overs, he dismissed Wiaan Mulder and captain Rassie van der Dussen.
 

After West Indies bowlers’ restricted South Africa’s score to 163/7, King and Johnson Charles went berserk against the new-ball bowlers. While Charles scored 69 runs from just 26 balls, King contributed with a 28-ball 48. Later, Kyle Mayers' 23-ball 36 helped West Indies win by eight wickets with 6.1 overs to spare.

King lauds his teammates

“I have been playing well, couldn't finish the game today but I'm pleased with my own performance. We played well as a unit, we are playing with the same guys since the last 1-2 years. It's really important, some good momentum going into the World Cup,” King said in the post-match presentation. 
 

“Our bowling performance was very pleasing, we were very consistent, our batters also performed well, different contributions throughout the series. A lot of our main players were missing, still performing the way we did was great,” the 29-year-old added.
