Co-hosts USA announce T20 World Cup 2024 squad, name 4 former IPL players including New Zealand's World Cup 2015 finalist

T20 World Cup 2024 squad: Former Indian cricketer Monank Patel will lead co-hosts USA in the mega event. He will have the experience of former New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson at his disposal.

Co-hosts United States of America (USA) have named their 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. Former New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson who was a part of ODI World Cup 2015 final team headlines the 15-member squad. In addition, three players associated with Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises -- Milind Kumar, Harmeet Singh and Ali Khan -- have found a place in the squad. 
 

Gujarat-born wicketkeeper-batter Monank Patel who has played for MI Emirates and MI New York will be leading USA in the mega event.
 

USA’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad

Monank Patel (captain), Aaron Jones (vice-Captain), Andries Gous, Corey Anderson, Ali Khan, Harmeet Singh, Jessy Singh, Milind Kumar, Nisarg Patel, Nitish Kumar, Noshtush Kenjige, Saurabh Nethralvakar, Shadley Van Schalkwyk, Steven Taylor, Shayan Jahangir. 
 

Reserve Players: Gajanand Singh, Juanoy Drysdale, Yasir Mohammad.
 

USA recently went up against Canada as part of their preparation for T20 World Cup 2024. They dominated Canada and won the five-T20I series 4-0. They could not complete a whitewash against Canada as the third T20I was abandoned due to wet outfield.

 

Former New Zealand all-rounder played two T20Is for USA. In the final game of the T20I series, he contributed with a match-winning 48-ball 55 in the run chase.

USA’s group stage schedule 

USA are placed in Group A alongside India, Pakistan, Ireland and Canada. USA will play Canada in the tournament opener at Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas. At the same venue, they will play Babar Azam's Pakistan. Then, they will move to New York to take on Rohit Sharma-led India at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. Their last group stage game will be played at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida against Ireland.
