Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto was highly disappointed with an embarrassing series loss against the United States ahead of the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup 2024 and said that their team needs to change their mindset. USA scripted history after winning their maiden T20I series against a Test-playing nation with a 6-run win in the second T20I at the Prairie View Cricket Complex in Houston, on May 23 (Thursday).

Najmul Hossain Shanto on series loss against USA

Najmul Hossain Shanto expressed his disappointment in the team's performance and said that losing wickets in the middle order was the reason for their loss. He even asked his team to change their mindset not their skill set.

“Very disappointing for us. We lost wickets in the middle overs, that was the reason why we lost. We didn't play well, but we have an opportunity to come up with a good plan in the next match. We should change our mindset, it's not about our skills,” said Shanto in the post-match presentation.

USA eye clean sweep victory

The USA was made to bat first by Bangladesh after winning the toss. They could only post a total 144/6 in 20 overs and no batter could even cross the 50-run mark. However, even the below-par score turned out to be enough as they bowled out Bangladesh on 138 runs and clinched a 6-run win.

Monank Patel-led USA have now defeated Bangladesh in two consecutive matches. They have demonstrated astonishing potential and are not to be considered a walkover. Now, they also have an opportunity to clean-sweep Bangladesh by winning the third and final T20I. If the hosts manage to pull this off, it will be a major boost in their confidence ahead of the marquee event that they will be hosting next month. On the other hand, the Bangla Tigers need to pull up their socks and fight back. They would not want to enter the mega tournament after a whitewash series loss against the USA.
