The Netherlands Cricket Board has announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup 2024 which is set to be held in the USA and West Indies. Scott Edwards will once again be leading the team in the mega tournament and this will be a historic event for the Dutch side as for the first time an Associate country participates in three consecutive World Cups. They played in the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia and in the ODI World Cup 2023 held in India.

Veteran stars miss out

The Netherlands have been placed in Group D along with South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. They would try to pull off some upset wins again and qualify for the next round. However, the team have decided to not include veteran stars Roelof van der Merwe and Colin Ackermann.

They have included some really good young names in their team like left-arm spinner Tim Pringle, young seamer Kyle Klein, and hard-hitting opener Michael Levitt, who smashed 135 runs off just 62 balls against Namibia earlier this year. Apart from them, the star all-rounder Bas de Leede would also be one of the key players for the Dutch side. The Netherlands is an underrated side and holds victory over South Africa in the previous edition of the T20 World Cup. They have the potential to do that and would try to use those experiences to add more glory to their side.
