Virat Kohli slips out of top 10 in ICC Test batter rankings, Rohit Sharma falls 5 places after dismal outings vs Bangladesh
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli slipped five places each in the newly released ICC Test batter rankings. Yashasvi Jaiswal is the only other Indian in top 10.
Rishabh Pant re-entered the top 10 list in ICC’s latest Test batter rankings with a century in his comeback Test against Bangladesh. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli took a major hit and slipped five places each. Rohit registered two single-digit scores and is now in 10th place. Kohli slipped to the 12th spot after registering scores of 6 and 17.
Shubman Gill who scored a century in the second innings moved up five places to 14th place. Sri Lanka's Kamindu Mendis who is on a record-breaking run in Test cricket continued to rise and has occupied 16th spot. As Rohit slipped, Usman Khawaja, Mohammad Rizwan and Marnus Labuschagne moved up one place each to sixth, seventh and eighth place respectively. The top spot is occupied by England’s Joe Root who is way ahead of others with 899 rating points.
Historic change in ICC ODI batter rankings
Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz made a huge leap in ICC's ODI batter rankings becoming the first Afghanistan batter to breach the top 10. Gurbaz was rewarded for his maiden ODI hundred followed by an 89-run knock against South Africa in the recently concluded ODI series won 2-1 by Afghanistan.
There was another change in top 10 ODI batter rankings. Australia's menacing opener Travis Head was rewarded for his unbeaten 154 in the run chase against England. Head went up seven places to occupy the ninth spot. Meanwhile, an injured Ibrahim Zadran slipped five places to 17th spot. Afghan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai who scored unbeaten 86 in 2nd ODI jumped 15 places to 35th.
Changes in ODI bowler rankings
In the ODI bowler rankings, Rashid Khan went up eight places to take the third spot after claiming seven wickets from two games including a five-wicket haul. While Rashid soared in rankings, his teammate Mohammad Nabi slipped six places to 11th. There were three more changes in top 10. Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa moved up one place to second spot. His teammate Josh Hazlewood took a hit and slipped from third to fifth position Also, Pakistan left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi moved once place up to sixth spot.
