India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant who made his Test comeback in the ongoing series against Bangladesh was spotted helping the rivals by setting their field while batting in the second innings at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. This ongoing Test series is Pant's first outing for India in the longest format of the game after December 2022. He missed the cricketing action after getting injured in a near-fatal accident on December 30, 2022.

As Pant geared up to face the bowler, he turned to Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and requested that a fielder be placed in the inner circle on the leg side, which was entirely vacant.

“Arey idhar aayega ek. Idhar kam fielder hai (Hey, put a fielder here. There aren't many fielders here),” Pant seemed to tell Shanto, while pointing towards the leg side. The Bangladesh captain, in turn, actually adhered to Pant's suggestion and put a fielder on in the midwicket region.

India vs Bangladesh 1st Test

Team India strengthened its position in the opening Test in Chennai, putting Bangladesh on the backfoot with a strong performance on Day 2. After posting an impressive 376 in their first innings, Jasprit Bumrah spearheaded the Indian bowling attack, dismissing Bangladesh for just 149 runs. With a substantial lead, India opted not to enforce the follow-on, focusing instead on building a massive target for the visitors.

On Day 3, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant showcased a masterclass in stroke play, solidifying their partnership at the crease and further demoralizing the Bangladeshi side.
