WATCH: Rohit Sharma breaks into tears, consoled by Virat Kohli after India beat England to make it to T20 World Cup 2024 final

Indian Captain Rohit Sharma got emotional after India defeated England in the semifinal of T20 World Cup 2024 by 68 runs at Providence Stadium in Georgetown, Guyana on June 28 in a rain-affected match. Team India will now face South Africa in the grand finale which will take place on June 29 at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. 

With this win India took the revenge of their 2022 T20 World Cup loss where India defeated the Men in Blue by 10 wickets in Australia. Rohit Sharma scored a mammoth of 57 runs which helped India put 171 runs. Now after this win Indian captain was seen quite emotional, here is the clip:

Rohit thus became the first Indian captain to lead the country in three ICC global finals in a space of 12 months -- 2023 World Test Championship, 2023 ODI World Cup and now the T20 World Cup.

India made it to the T20 World Cup final for the first time in 10 years. This victory holds special significance as it comes two years after a crushing 10-wicket defeat against England in the 2022 semi-final.

Rohit Sharma equals the record of former India captains Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni he became the fifth Indian captain to score 5,000 runs across all formats. Kohli tops the tally with 12,883 runs and MS Dhoni comes second in the tally scoring 11207 international runs across the formats. 

Rohit Sharma breaks Chris Gayle's record

Indian captain Rohit Sharma surpassed WIndies legendary batter Chris Gayle by smashing two sixes against England he became the batter with the most sixes in ICC knockouts by smashing the 22nd six in the semifinal clash. Earlier, Gayle holds the record with 21 maximums.
