'Why spread fake news?': Rishabh Pant blasts fans for 'Kohli doesn't want him in RCB' rumour ahead of IPL 2025 auction

Indian wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant went down heavily on a user for spreading fake news about his alleged move to join the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ahead of IPL 2025. The user claimed that Pant had approached RCB seeking leadership opportunities but was denied by the franchise management due to Virat Kohli's objections.

Pant vehemently refuted the rumour, calling it fake news and urging fans to refrain from spreading misinformation. It's worth noting that Pant made a remarkable return to professional cricket in IPL 2024 after surviving a serious car accident in December 2022.

“Fake news . Why do you guys spread so much fake news on social media. Be sensible guys so bad. Don’t create untrustworthy environment for no reason. It’s not the first time and won’t be last but I had to put this out .please always re check with your so called sources. Everyday it’s becoming worst . Rest it’s upto you guys . It’s wasn’t just for you it’s for a lot for people who is spreading misinformation. Tc,” Pant wrote on his X account.

Pant's Performance and DC's Season
 

Pant's return to cricket was marked by a solid performance, scoring 446 runs in 13 matches at an average of 40.54 and a strike rate of 155.40. Despite his individual success, Delhi Capitals (DC) failed to qualify for the playoffs, finishing in sixth place with a record of seven wins and seven losses, accumulating 14 points.

Rishabh Pant has been an integral part of the Delhi Capitals since his IPL debut in 2016. He took on the captaincy role in 2021 when Shreyas Iyer was sidelined due to an injury. While Pant missed the 2023 season due to his car accident, David Warner filled in as captain. Ahead of the upcoming IPL season, Delhi Capitals has announced a change in their coaching staff. Sourav Ganguly will replace Ricky Ponting as the head coach, with Ponting joining the Punjab Kings. The BCCI is expected to announce the retention rules for the next season soon, leading up to the mega auction.
