Will David Miller be available for clash against table-toppers Rajasthan Royals? Spencer Johnson gives major update
Gujarat Titans are struggling in the absence of their veteran South African batter David Miller. Spencer Johnson provided an update ahead of GT's clash against Rajasthan Royals.
Gujarat Titans (GT) have been missing their star overseas batter David Miller’s services in the middle order. Miller has missed out on two games due to a niggle and GT have lost both of them. Miller’s presence is crucial considering they failed to chase down 164 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) despite a strong start. Ahead of their clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR), GT’s Australian pacer Spencer Johnson gave an update on his possible return.
"Davy, I think he is not too far away (from return). Even if he misses this one, he will be available for the next one," Johnson said at the pre-match media conference in Jaipur.
In the previous game Miller played, he scored an unbeaten 44 off 27 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The veteran South African batter has scored 77 runs from three innings so far in the season.
After the loss to LSG, skipper Shubman Gill said that GT is missing his ability to change the game in a short time.
“Miller is a kind of a player who can change a game in a couple of overs, because I think this total was very gettable for us,” Gill told the broadcasters.
Johnson backs GT to beat table-toppers RR
GT have lost three out of their five games but Johnson believes they lost a couple of close games which could have gone their way.
"Couple of disappointing performances in last couple of games but in last couple of years, we have shown how good a side we are," said Johnson who has picked three wickets from as many games in IPL 2024 so far.
Going up against red-hot Rajasthan Royals (RR), Johnson is aware of the kind of threat they pose but he is backing his side to end their winning run.
"When you come to Rajasthan Royals' home, it is not easy as Royals have won four on 4, we are looking to kmock them off, how hard it is to win away games, but a couple of points here, goes a long way giving confidence going into our next two home games," the left-arm pacer said.
