IND vs ENG: Will Jasprit Bumrah return to Indian squad for 5th Test against England? Big update surfaces of superstar's availability
Jasprit Bumrah is likely to make his return to the Indian side for the final Test match against England in Dharamsala. The star fast bowler missed the previous match due to workload management.
Jasprit Bumrah's comeback for the Dharamsala Test appears highly likely after he was given a rest during the Ranchi match. According to a report in Cricbuzz, the star India pacer, who was rested from the previous Test in Ranchi owing to workload management, is slated to rejoin the team in Dharamsala.
Earlier, Bumrah did not travel to Ranchi with the rest of the Indian squad since he had been granted a break for workload management reasons. This move followed India's monumental victory over England by 434 runs in the third Test at Rajkot on February 18, which secured them a 2-1 series lead in the five-match contest. In Bumrah's absence, India extended their lead to 3-1 by winning the 4th Test in Ranchi.
Jasprit Bumrah's sensational display
In the current series against England, Jasprit Bumrah has emerged as a pivotal asset for captain Rohit Sharma, showcasing exceptional bowling prowess. His standout performance came during the second Test in Visakhapatnam, where he claimed six wickets in the second innings, playing a crucial role in India's victory that leveled the series.
Bumrah has consistently challenged the English batsmen across the last three matches, demonstrating precision in line and length with the new ball and masterfully employing reverse swing to disrupt the opposition's lineup. His skillful execution on the field has been nothing short of impressive.
Bumrah led all bowlers until he was rested
As the series progressed, Bumrah distinguished himself as the top wicket-taker, leading the chart with 17 wickets from just three matches, boasting an impressive strike rate of 28.53. He lost the top spot after missing the 4th Test in Ranchi as England spinner Tom Hartley surged ahead.
Bumrah's remarkable performance has not only elevated his status but also significantly contributed to the team's competitive edge in the series.
