The 26-year-old Reddy admitted to committing a Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 of the WPL's Code of Conduct. This offense pertains to ‘using language, actions, or gestures that disparage or could provoke an aggressive response from a batter upon her dismissal during a match.’
How did Arundhati Reddy and DC perform vs Warriorz?
Reddy and the DC had a memorable day on February 26. The glitzy franchise began their campaign with a loss to Mumbai Indians (MI) but bounced back strongly by defeating UPW by nine wickets.
Reddy flaunted her skills by dismissing Poonam Khemnar and ended with figures of 3-0-16-1 against UP Warriorz.
She also performed well against MI and picked up the wickets of Yastika Bhatia and Nat-Sciver Brunt.
DC asserted their dominance over UPW by limiting them to 119 for 9 in 20 overs. Marizanne Kapp was instrumental in dismantling their top order, claiming the wickets of Alyssa Healy, Tahlia McGrath, and Dinesh Vrinda with figures of 4-1-5-3. Radha Yadav also made significant contributions, ending with figures of 4-0-20-4.
The DC launched a relentless assault in their run-chase, reaching the target with 33 balls to spare. Shafali Verma, who was dismissed for a duck against MI, quickly bounced back to score a half-century off 36 balls against the RCB.
She remained unbeaten on 64 runs from 43 deliveries, smashing 6 fours and 4 sixes. Skipper Meg Lanning also contributed with a valuable 51 off 43 balls before being dismissed by Sophie Ecclestone.
With this victory, the DC climbed to the second position in the table with 2 points and a net run rate of +0.488.
