Yashasvi Jaiswal made a stunning start to his Test career, scoring 861 runs in seven innings for India, which included two double centuries, a century, and two half-centuries. Arif reminisces about Yashasvi's early talent

"We always believed there was something special in Yashasvi," Arif told Sports Tak.

"We made plans and took him to Mumbai, providing transportation training, and now the results speak for themselves."

Recalling Jaiswal's early brilliance, Hussain said, "he was brilliant from the start, a sparkle we witnessed, and today, the results are evident to all. I remember admitting him to my academy in 2007-8, and within a year, he secured a place in the senior team, where we provided him with every opportunity."

Jaiswal lights up Rajkot with 2 twin-centries

During the ongoing series against England at home, 22-year-old Jaiswal delivered a remarkable performance, scoring 545 runs in six innings, including two double-centuries. Notably, he scored 209 in the second Test in Vizag and an unbeaten 214 in the third Test in Rajkot, both contributing significantly to India's resounding victories.

In his unbeaten innings of 214 runs, Jaiswal hit 12 sixes, equalling the world record set by former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram. His explosive batting played a pivotal role in India setting a massive target of 557 runs against England. The visitors succumbed to pressure, getting dismissed for just 122 runs.

With a commanding victory margin of 434 runs, India secured a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

Highlighting Mumbai's role in fostering Jaiswal's talent, Hussain thanked the Mumbai Cricket Association for offering opportunities.

'Jaiswal shines like a diamond'

"Today, Yashasvi has created waves globally, and we hope he continues to do so, bringing glory to our nation," he added.

Hussain stressed the collective effort contributing to Yashasvi's achievements, recognising the backing from the Bhadohi community.

"It is with their support that Yashasvi shines like a diamond, contributing to numerous individuals worldwide," he remarked.

Considering Yashasvi's attributes, Hussain remarked, “He has worked diligently, shown great resilience, and displayed leadership qualities. Fear has never hindered him; there's something special within him."

Hussain fondly labelled Yashasvi's distinctive pull shot as a 'family shot,' crediting its origin to the skill of his elder brother Tejasvi, who is also an outstanding player.

"We hope that in the future, he too will achieve great heights," he concluded.
