Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was in sublime touch in the fourth T20I against Zimbabwe as he hit 13 fours and two sixes in his unbeaten 93.
Yashasvi Jaiswal stamped his authority against Zimbabwe in the fourth T20I with an unbeaten 53-ball 93. Jaiswal and skipper Shubman Gill's unbeaten 156-run opening partnership helped India finish off the run chase in the 16th over and win by 10 wickets to take an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-T20I series. After the comprehensive win, Jaiswal interacted with the fans at Harare Sports Club. In a video posted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), fans asked Jaiswal a few questions. One of them asked how he felt playing after a big gap as he did not get a change to play a single game in T20 World Cup 2024.
βI just enjoyed my process and being a part of World Cup champion team. I learned a lot. I was really excited and whenever I get a chance, I will try my best and make sure I'm contributing and winning the game for my team. I really enjoyed playing today. It was an amazing experience with Shubman bhai. Whenever I play for India, I really enjoy and feel proud,β Jaiswal replied.
The southpaw missed his second T20I century by just seven runs. The fan wondered whether Jaiswal and Gill discussed it in the middle.
βWe were just thinking how to finish off the game. We wanted to finish the game for no loss,β the 22-year-old said.
Another fan asked whether playing domestic cricket has helped Jaiswal. The opener emphasised on the need to play domestic cricket it helps the players prepare for games at international level.
βOfcourse, domestic khelne ka bohot fayda milta hai. Bohot acha aap prepare kar sakte ho aur ready ho sakte ho matches ke liye. Domestic games are really important for us. We really enjoy playing,β said the Mumbai batter.
Jaiswal, Gill break record
Jaiswal and Gill's 156-run partnership is the highest opening partnership against Zimbabwe in a run chase. The previous best belonged to Pakistan's Ahmed Shehzad and Mukhtar Ahmed. The Pakistan pair shared a 142-run stand against Zimbabwe in 2015.
Jaiswal hit 13 fours and two sixes in his 53-ball 93. On the other end, Gill scored 58 runs from 39 balls including six fours and a couple of sixes.
