Seasoned Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal made his predictions for the Orange Cap and Purple Cap winners for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. In his prediction for the top run-scorer of IPL 2024, Chahal overlooked Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill, instead opting for players from his own team, Rajasthan Royals (RR). Chahal holds the record for the most wickets in the T20 league's history, with 187 wickets across 145 matches, boasting an impressive average of 21.69 and an economy rate of 7.67. He clinched the Purple Cap as the leading wicket-taker in the 2022 IPL season.

In a video on the YouTube channel ‘JokerKiHaveli,’ esports streamer Gulrez Khan engaged Chahal in a discussion about who might be the leading run-scorer in the next IPL 2024 season. Chahal predicted that two of his teammates from the Rajasthan Royals would contend for the Orange Cap.

Chahal tips Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler to win Orange Cap in IPL 2024

The 33-year-old player suggested that Yashasvi Jaiswal or Jos Buttler is likely to win the Orange Cap in the IPL 2024 season. Buttler, who is England's white-ball captain, previously secured the Orange Cap during the 2022 IPL season, helping the Jaipur-based team reach the finals.

Buttler amassed 863 runs in 17 games for the Rajasthan Royals in the 2022 season. Meanwhile, Jaiswal exhibited outstanding performance in the 2023 IPL, scoring 624 runs across 14 matches, the highest tally by an uncapped player in a single IPL season.

In the same conversation, Gulrez Khan asked Chahal about his predictions for the tournament's leading wicket-taker. Chahal aspired to top the wicket-taking charts himself but named Rashid Khan as a likely candidate for the second-highest wicket-taker. Rashid Khan, the Afghan leg-spinner, will represent the Gujarat Titans in the 2024 IPL season. Last season, he took 27 wickets in 17 matches. The team from Ahmedabad was the runner-up in the most recent league edition.

The Gujarat Titans are set to start their IPL 2024 campaign against the Lucknow Super Giants at home on March 24. Their subsequent matches include facing the Delhi Capitals on March 28 and the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians, at Wankhede Stadium on April 1.

Under the captaincy of Sanju Samson, the team will play their third home game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Jaipur.
