Uttar Pradesh Kabaddi League's inaugural edition announced, mega auction to take place on June 10

The mega auction for the Uttar Pradesh Kabaddi League will take place on June 10 in Noida. As many as 350-400 players will go under the hammer for maximum of 150 spots.

The inaugural edition of the Uttar Pradesh Kabaddi League (UPKL) was announced on June 6. The tournament organised in collaboration with UP Kabaddi Association will commence on July 11 and the final will be played on July 25. All the matches will be played at the Noida Indoor Stadium. UPKL foounder Sambhav Jain and AKFI Joint Secretary and UP Kabaddi Association member Vinay Kumar Singh made the announcement.
 

“We are excited about this prestigious league. Our aim is to promote Kabaddi and provide a platform to talented players to showcase their skills,” Sambhav Jain said in a press meet.
 

The eight teams which will be participating in the league are Yamuna Yodhas, JD Noida Ninjas, Kashi Kings, Awadh Ramdoot, Brij Stars, Sangam Challengers, Lucknow Lions and Ganga Kings of Mirzapur. Each team will have 15 players in the squad. The 120 players will not just be from Uttar Pradesh but other regions of India as well.
 

The UPKL will be telecast on Sony Sports Network. The aim of the league is to take the sport to every corner of India and increase the fanbase.
 

"This competition is an important opportunity for Kabaddi players to gain exposure and experience at the professional level," said UPKL Sports Ambassador Rahul Chaudhary.
 

Vinay Kumar Singh said that 350-400 players will go under the hammer at the UPKL mega auction which is scheduled to take place on June 10, 2024 in Noida.

There will be a trophy tour as well to increase the awareness about the sport and the league in the state. The trophy will be displayed in more than 20 major cities of Uttar Pradesh over a period of more than three weeks. The major cities where the trophy will be dipslayed are Lucknow, Ayodhya, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Prayagraj, Jhansi, Agra, Mathura, Noida and others.
