F1: Daniel Ricciardo discusses his Formula One future away from Red Bull

Daniel Ricciardo shared his thoughts on leaving the Red Bull Family to secure a seat for the 2025 Formula 1 season. He will be leaving the Red Bull family for a second time. The Australian racer returned halfway in the 2023 season replacing Nyck de Vries at Red Bull Team. Interestingly he took a major risk in his career leaving the Red Bull for Renault and ended up at McLaren. At Mclaren, he was dropped for Oscar Piastri.   The Aussie joined Toro Rosso in 2012 before getting the promotion to Red Bull for the 2014 season.He is currently 13th in the drivers' standings with dismal performances in the races. Uncertainty looms large over his future.

During an interaction with the media at the Italian GP, Ricciardo discussed his future in Formula One.
"Yeah it’s just there. Look I’m most happy being back here, I also kind of speaking on performance it’s kind of nice not looking elsewhere or you know having maybe other little distractions because I can just focus on this. Look it’s an all-in approach but I think that approach will also get the most out of me and if that is still not enough then, C’est la vie. It kind of intensifies it but also simplifies it, so I think it’s the best approach. It’s not coming from a stubborn approach but I don’t really want to be anywhere else either," said Daniel.

Dismal 2024

Ricciardo has been ordinary in the current season with 13th standing in the list. The Red Bull racer was 13th in the last race (Italy) while his previous races in the 2024 season saw him in 12th (Netherlands), 10th (Belgium), 12th (Hungary), (13th) Great Britain, 9th (Austria), 15th (Spain). He was  12th in Monaco, 13th in Emilia Romagna, 15th in Miami, 19th in Japan, 12th in Australia, 16th in Saudi Arabia and 13th in Bahrain. His season-best performance was in Canada where he finished in 8th position. He finished the F1 2023 season in 17th position with AlphaTauri Honda RBPT.

The Australian reacted to the recent Italian Grand Prix incident where he suffered a 10-second penalty.

“I think ultimately, we weren’t quick enough, like even without the penalties. For sure we tried, but I don’t think we were quick enough – Kevin [Magnussen] passed me on the medium and then drove away on the hards, and I think he had a penalty as well from what I heard at the end. Yeah, we weren’t quite fast enough,” said Ricciardo.
